GoGoPerak brought to you a government wildlife conservation centre,
hoping to discover another hidden travel place for our readers!

Finally reached Sungkai, our destination from Kampar.
Without hesitation, we went straight to this mysterious place.
Known as Pusat Pemuliharaan Hidup Liar in Malay,
Sungkai Wildlife Conservation Centre is managed by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Jabatan Perhilitan) in Sungkai, Perak.
Sungkai Wildlife Conservation Centre, Perak
Situated within the 2468 hectares at the Sungkai Wildlife Reserve,
the Sungkai Wildlife Conservation Centre is a complete conservation complex run by the DWNP for the breeding of pheasants, seladang and deer.
The facilities available here are breeding cages for pheasants and hornbills,
paddocks for the Sambar deer, and for Malayan Gaur.
Besides that, there are also egg incubators, pheasants hatching laboratory and isolation cages.
All the deers and Malayan Gaur are managed intensively for breeding purpose.
This centre was under the responsibility of PERHILITAN, where they are responsible for the wildlife habitat and security. Sungkai Wildlife Conservation Centre is managed by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Jabatan Perhilitan) in Sungkai, Perak.
This centre which spreads over 50 hectares was opened in year 1971 and its primary conservation effort is to prevent extinction of the endangered wildlife.
This conservation centre focuses on captive breeding programmes for the Gaur, Sambar deer and also several indigenous pheasant species.
A direction to ease your way
Upon reaching the conservation site, the first thing to do is follow the direction board to the main office . once you reach there you have to find an officer to be your guide so you won't get lost!

Don't let the front view disappoint you because once you enter the main office,
you will see many candle mold replicas.

You might get lost inside if you didn't pay attention to this map and wandered off alone!
As mentioned,
finding an officer is most advised on a study tour as this ensures you dont get lost and not miss out on any animals here.
Besides that, do not forget to follow the rules and regulations here.
Rules and regulations
Due to the reason that there are many animals at here,
visitors are not allow to make noise, hunt those animals there, light a fire without permission.
Besides that,
you are also prohibited to pluck the plants, walk alone, and litter.
These rules and regulations are not applied to all people, they are mainly
for people who will be camping here.
SAMBAR DEER:
Sambar Deer
The Sambar Deer, one of the animals that we saw once we entered here.
They are kept in a large area and monitored by workers here.

They are very sensitive to visitors that pass by.
As we stop by, all of the deers stared at us, making us laughed out loud.

We missed out on the Timor Deers and Mousedeers,
as we are unaware of their existence in the wildlife reserve before being told by the guide.
PHEASANTS AND HORNBILLS:
There are variety of pheasants species here, but we did not managed to take pictures of them.
A kindly reminder for those that wish to visit here,
it is highly recommended to bring along insects or mosquito repellent to avoid being bitten.
Majestic Rhinoceros Hornbill,
representing one of the most powerful Sea Dayak (Iban) gods,
and Singalang Burong, who plays an important part in Iban religious festivals.
This kind of birds are mainly located at Sarawak throughout the whole Malaysia,
and was known as "State Bird of Sarawak".
They are also a symbol of strength and courage.
We were so excited when we saw such a beautiful horn-bill kept in this reservation centre,
but we also notice the loneliness from how it react towards us.
You can always pay a visit to this hornbill as it likes to be your model for photograph by just visiting here without the need of spending so much to fly over to Sarawak for those who are not wealthy.

SELADANG MALAYAN GAUR:
This extensive wildlife reserve is also a sanctuary for the endangered Malayan Gaur, the largest species of cattle, bigger than the Cape Buffalo, water buffalo and bison.
Malayan Gaur or Seladang in Malay, is the smallest among the 3 subspecies of gaur that includes the Southeast Asian Gaur (Bos gaurus laosiensis) and the Indian Bison (Bos gaurus gaurus).
We were advised to remain a distance as they are easily agitated with unfamiliar scent and faces.

There are still countless species that are not introduced, feel free to discover them on your own.
We hope that we manage to attract all the animal lovers to this place and to introduce a new place in malayia worth visiting at a low budget

OMG!
there is only 3 animal photo
the number of the photo seem like more concern on the notice board more than the animal..
After reading your blog, what i can only remember is the first photo u guys inserted. Isn't it the signboard in petrol station?
Suggestion:
- you should take a better quality photo as graphic image is very important visual aid of BLOG!
- the background music is not really suit to the tone, the atmosphere there doesn't bring the feeling of nature actually. There are less than 5 types of animals! What?
- too many photo of sign boards are included. It's not necessary and irritating.
btw, your blog did introduce an unknown place in Perak to me.
and 1 more thing is, i took a long time to load your background music! =(
